The Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition recently selected new leadership for 2005 and 2006. Gerald Nicholson, President and CEO of Marlo Coil, and Richard Giannini, President and CEO of Milwaukee Valve Company, will serve as co-chairs of the coalition for a two-year period. Widely recognized as leaders in the aircraft carrier industry, Mr. Nicholson and Mr. Giannini will bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the coalition that will be critical in raising awareness about the Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base and highlighting its value to the nation and global security. Gerald A. (Jerry) Nicholson is President and CEO of Marlo Coil, a wholly owned subsidiary of Engineered Support Systems, Inc.(EASI-NASDAQ). Engineered Support systems, Inc. is a holding company with eleven operating subsidiaries and is a leading supplier of equipment to the Department of Defense.
Mr. Nicholson has been the President and CEO of Marlo Coil since January 2001. Marlo is a leading manufacturer of custom engineered coils, cooling coils, fan coil units, refrigeration and air handling systems. Marlo is the United States Navy's largest supplier of marine coils, air handling units, product coolers and refrigeration plants. The Military Sealift Command, United States Coast Guard and international governments are also users of this equipment. In addition, Marlo’s engineering and design expertise is utilized in specialized applications including aerospace, food processing, healthcare, semi-conductors and pharmaceutical industries.
Mr. Nicholson has held numerous executive level positions ranging from President and Vice President over the course of his 27-year career. Prior to joining Marlo in 2001, Mr. Nicholson was the Executive Vice President responsible for two operating subsidiaries of Thermadyne Industries (Tweco and Coyne Cylinder). Mr. Nicholson joined Thermadyne Industries in 1990 as Vice President of Sales and Marketing for the Coyne Cylinder Subsidiary. In 1992, Mr. Nicholson was promoted to Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Thermadyne Industries over all the subsidiaries (Tweco, Coyne Cylinder, Victor Equipment, Thermal Dynamics). In 1994, he was promoted to the position of Executive Vice President of Thermaydyne Industries. Prior to joining Coyne, he was the Minority Owner and General Manager of M.B. Sturgis, Inc. from 1985 until 1990.
Mr. Nicholson is a member of the Navy League, the National Defense Industrial Association, and a member of the Marine Manufacturers Association. In addition, he has held positions as Secretary of The St. Louis Chapter of the American Welding Society. Mr. Nicholson has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Welding Supply Association.
Mr. Nicholson received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business Administration in 1968 from Southeast Missouri University. He also earned his MBA in Business Management and Marketing from St. Louis University in 1974.
Richard A. Giannini

Richard A. (Rick) Giannini is President and CEO of Milwaukee Valve Company, a privately held business established in 1901. Milwaukee Valve is internationally recognized for its state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities and new product innovations covering a wide range of applications.
Mr. Giannini has been the President and CEO of Milwaukee Valve since July 1998. Milwaukee Valve is a leading manufacturer of valves for the Marine, Commercial and Industrial Markets. The company is also the United States Navy's largest supplier of bronze navy standard valves. Milwaukee Valve is also a leading supplier of valves for the Commercial Construction Industry, and has two joint venture operations in China to support its Commercial and Industrial product offerings.
Milwaukee Valve operates a state-of-the-art bronze foundry and manufacturing operation in Prairie du Sac, WI. In addition to the bronze navy standard valves, the company offers valves manufactured in iron, brass, titanium, copper-nickel, carbon and stainless steel, and other specialty materials. The product line includes ball, butterfly, gate, globe, angle, check and specialty valves.
Over the course of his 25-year career in the valve-manufacturing industry, Mr. Giannini has held numerous positions of increasing responsibility. He started in 1980 with Marpac, formerly a division of Mark Controls. In 1984, Mr. Giannini was promoted to Assistant Controller of the Mark Controls International division. In 1986, he was promoted to Controller of the Marpac division. In 1988, Rockwell International acquired the Marpac division from Mark Controls. Following the Rockwell acquisition, Mr. Giannini was also appointed Controller of the McCanna division. In 1989, Rockwell sold its Measurement and Flow Control Group to British Tire and Rubber (BTR). The Group consisted of six valve and meter manufacturing companies including the Marpac and McCanna divisions. In 1994 Mr. Giannini was promoted to President of the Marpac and McCanna divisions of BTR.
Mr. Giannini received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Accounting and Business Administration in 1979 from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL. He also earned his CPA certificate in 1981. Mr. Giannini is married with three daughters.
