Members of Congress are touring the manufacturing facilities of suppliers to the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier construction and maintenance program to learn firsthand how funding for the aircraft carrier program impacts skilled jobs and regional economies. We have highlighted these tours below.

On November 6th, Representative Kay Granger (R-TX-12) toured the Fort Worth Gasket & Supply facility in Fort Worth, Texas to see firsthand the jobs and businesses that the production of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers brings to her district.

Representative Rigell stated, "I was pleased to meet with the hard-working folks of Sunbelt Supply Co. Inc. today, and I appreciate their efforts on behalf of our men and women in uniform and our military. The threat caused by the looming defense cuts is hurting our local businesses, and the consequences of not addressing this problem now are unacceptable. I urge the Commander in Chief and the Senate to join the House in our efforts to eliminate the threat of sequestration now."

Representative Smith stated, "This plant is an essential part of our local economy and a key part of our national security. The parts manufactured here help to provide our sailors with the equipment they need to do their jobs. The plant also provides Washington state workers with good paying jobs. Congressman Scott Rigell visited W&O Supply in Virginia Beach, Virginia

On July 3rd, Rep. Scott Rigell (R-VA-02) visited W&O Supply in Virginia Beach, VA. During his visit, he toured the facility and saw how W&O Supply supports the U.S. Navy in manufacturing pipes, valves, fitting engineered products, and automated-valve and data-management systems. Representative Rigell also met with employees and managers to discuss sequestration and the effect that budget cuts have for defense industry jobs.
