Members of Congress are touring the manufacturing facilities of suppliers to the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier construction and maintenance program to learn firsthand how funding for the aircraft carrier program impacts skilled jobs and regional economies. We have highlighted these tours below.

Today, Admiral Richardson and I saw firsthand the critical work being done by the workers here in Mount Vernon to support vessels such as submarines and aircraft carriers that make the United States Navy an unparalleled force around the world. Together, we toured the facility, were briefed on Babcock & Wilcox’s current and future projects, and spoke with the Hoosiers who make it all possible. Hoosier workers are among the most talented in the world, and it was a privilege to spend time with them today. Congressman Scott Rigell visited W&O Supply in Virginia Beach, Virginia

On July 3rd, Rep. Scott Rigell (R-VA-02) visited W&O Supply in Virginia Beach, VA. During his visit, he toured the facility and saw how W&O Supply supports the U.S. Navy in manufacturing pipes, valves, fitting engineered products, and automated-valve and data-management systems. Representative Rigell also met with employees and managers to discuss sequestration and the effect that budget cuts have for defense industry jobs.

U.S. Senator Chambliss Visits PaR Marine/Jered LLC
in Brunswick, Georgia
"Having Senator Chambliss tour our facility allowed us to showcase the work we do to support the aircraft carrier program, while giving the Senator an opportunity to see how our company contributes the local and national economy.
