Coalition Members:
You should have received several alerts from the Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition (ACIBC) concerning recent budget discussions in Washington, D.C. We have asked that your companies send letters to Members of Congress highlighting the relationship between funding for the aircraft carrier program and jobs in the economy in their districts.
We have received copies of letters sent to Congress from a number of companies across the country. We thank those of you who have sent letters for your support. Here are some excerpts from ACIBC members' letters to Members of Congress:
“[The aircraft carrier program] represents approximately 9 million dollars annually and we employ 6 people and are poised to grow substantially in the next 2 years providing the aircraft carrier production schedule does not change.”
“The procurement and supply of these pumps, along with the many additional spare parts, represents approximately $500,000 in sales which can be upwards of 20% of our entire revenue in a given year. We are a small business employer of 13 people and these military contracts play a significant role in our overall economic structure.”
“The Aircraft Carrier is our most important program as it represents orders that we expect to exceed $40 million for the complex machinery… delays in receiving these orders will have a very serious negative effect on our business and the local community.”
If you have already sent a letter to Congress, but not sent a copy to us, please do so today so our government affairs team can effectively track and coordinate efforts. Please send a copy of the letter to gmccarthy@acibc.org.
If you have not sent a letter, please do so today. A model letter and details on where and how to send it can be found here: http://www.acibc.org/take-action.
Thank you,
