CVN-21 Steel Cutting Ceremony
On August 11, 2005, Northrop Grumman Newsport News held a steel cutting ceremony, commemorating the start of construction on the CVN-78, the first carrier in the CVN-21 class, a major advance in American Sea Power. CVN-21 will incorporate new technologies, maintain force structure and provide transformational capabilities for the 21st Century Warriors. It will also be more cost-efficient and contain tremendous growth margins, allowing for the introduction of future technological and warfare developments.
