Every year, the Aircraft Carrier Industrial Base Coalition (ACIBC) hosts Action Days, a two-day event where suppliers from across the nation come to Washington, DC, to explain to their Members of Congress the importance of the aircraft carrier program to the nation, their company, district and state. It is also an excellent opportunity for coalition members to network with NNS representatives and fellow suppliers.
Action Days 2022 took place on Tuesday, March 22 and Wednesday March 23. Thank you to all of our suppliers who participated in this year’s program.
On Day 1, participants had the chance to participate in 1:1 meetings with Newport News Shipbuilding supply chain managers. Then, during the general session in the afternoon, attendees heard from NNS executives, ACIBC leadership, Rear Adm. James P Downey, Vice Adm. and Rear Adm. Andrew Loiselle, a panel discussion with NNS Supply Chain and an update on the state of Washington from the HII Government Relations team.
On Day 2, attendees gathered for breakfast to and a program including virtual remarks from 10 Members of Congress, as well as a panel discussion from Eric Labs and Ron O’Rourke.
Congressional Meetings took place virtually in the days and weeks following Action Days and we are on track to host the most ever congressional meetings.
Our hybrid program this year allowed for greater participation from both in-person and virtual suppliers and are pleased to report our attendance of 291 total attendees. Thank you to the industrial base for the support and advocacy of the Aircraft Carrier Program.
